Welcome to the first annual TWENTY FOUR FRAMES film competition!
SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE IS OVER! Deadline - Jan.15th!
Twenty Four Frames {TFF} is a three-month domestic and international film competition that solely emphasizes film projects on the creative artistic basis of cinematography, not the story line. TFF's mission is to help expose and spread light on the art of photography utilized in cinema, be it shorts, features, and documentaries. Each genre of filmmaking has an appreciated style of photography that makes film's spring to life.
The art of cinematography is a very important and intricate aspect of cinema. The role of the Director of Photography (DP) or cinematographer is a privilege and honor, and thus, should be taken seriously. Quite frankly, the producer and director entrusts the D.P. with a great artistic and financial responsibility. At the start of each film, every cinematographer must begin visualizing the script into realism by making key decisions such as; choice of film stock and lenses, digital vs. film, use of color and lighting style, direct or bounced light, natural or artificial light, mobile or static camera, aspect ratio, shooting ratios, shot lists, contrast ratios, processing techniques, even the contribution in helping the line producer balance the budget, managing the camera and lighting department, and collaborating with the director, production designer, and laboratory.
Many filmgoers have no clue as to what cinematography is and what their position entails. However, every film watcher is impacted by the dark contrast lighting painted in a horror film or by the uneasy feeling one gets from a hand-held camera. Whatever the case, every film contains cinematography and NO film is made without it.
TFF is proud to screen, critique, and give awards to any and all films entered on the basis of cinematography as it coincides with the overall concept of the film. The imagery and photography should not be a distraction or detract from the story, but rather compliment, blend, and enhance the words on the page.
So if you believe your film project has all the necessary ingredients, send us your film and allow us to be the judge. Remember all films have cinematography, and whether your film is shot on 35mm or DV, we judge your film based on the cohesiveness between the cinematography and the story line. Therefore you have nothing to lose by submitting, but everything to gain by winning!
Thank you for your participation.
